Position Overview Read and properly record readings for water meters throughout the City.
Position Functions - Read water meter registers daily to be recorded onto handheld unit (currently using Itron FC300 device).
- Clean mud and debris from meter boxes and locate buried meters.
- Deliver delinquent and shut off notices to residents and businesses.
- Drive to and from City work sites.
- Remove and install water meters, turning them on and off as necessary.
- Identify possible cross connections.
- Conduct flow test on water meters, as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned. Be available for emergency call-outs.
- In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.
- Complete required trainings as specified within the City Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid driver license. Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS: - Six (6) months experience reading utility meters.
- Willingness to adopt AI and emerging technologies.
Supplemental Information Applicants must authorize and undergo fingerprint-based state and national criminal history screening. Employees in this position are subject to continuous criminal history monitoring throughout employment.
Driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related felony offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12).
If selected, an essential functions assessment is required to measure the ability to safely perform the required physical demands.
